Continuous Caster

In 1995, CMMP manufactured the guiding system and other units for the second caster at the Taiyuan Steel Works, i.e. the 1630-mm internally-cooled alloy steel slab caster. The guiding system of the caster was operated hydraulically. It consisted of a large number of compactly arranged rollers both at the top and bottom and was cooled both internally and externally. It featured compact structure, small weight and low cost in terms of per-ton steel investment. based on the basic design by Voest-Alpine (VAI), it used the most up-to-date casting technology. The units manufactured by CMMP included the vertical bending segment, bow segment, straightening segment, horizontal segment, bow support frame (nicknamed big banana), horizontal support frame (nicknamed small banana), dummy bar and dummy bar head.

CMMP also manufactured the drying station, tundish cars, tundishes and all the units in the changing device. All the above ran smoothly and achieved the designed production right after the first erection and commissioning. Hence they were highly appraised by the customer and VAI experts. They were up to the best level as compared with the similar production lines in the world.
